I believe it is important for teachers to understand how to use twitter and Facebook because they are the most popular social networking sites available. I did not learn anything new per say because I am well versed on both social networking tools. I think Facebook could be harmful to use in the classroom or professional setting because it allows to much freedom in conversation and sharing between non-friends. As far as the classroom is concerned Twitter would be a better resource. Twitter would allow a teacher to produce information or links and allow their page to remain clean from other publishers, which is very important in the classroom setting.
