Using this discovery activity, I found both flow charts and mind maps to be very useful. For school I found that the mind map would be a wonderful tool when writing papers or coming up with ideas for projects. The mind map allows you to use one topic and come up with many different ideas. The flow chart would be more useful in the classroom for directions. I could see making up a flow chart to send home with students as a trouble shooter when completing projects at home. When designing a flowchart I found Gliffy to be the easiest and most straight forward. MindMaster was extremely simple when setting up a mind map and I would definitely use their website for future classroom activities.
